Today we have a guest post by Jane Johnson who is going to share 5 fun dance apps she has come across?
Salsa, break dance, tap dance, ballet, tango, cha-cha-cha, swing dance?even though there are hundreds of different types of dance, dancers represent a true niche market audience as far as smart phone apps go. However, did you know that novice and veteran dancers alike can use their mobile devices to look up how to do a proper shoulder groove in break dancing as fast as they can check movie times?
When my daughter first started ballet 5 years ago, I never anticipated downloading smart phone apps for her to use between rehearsals. However, the dance apps that are available for mobile devices are really quite impressive.
As the mom of a prima ballerina (at least in my eyes), here are the top dance apps of 2012:
1. Pocket Salsa ($3.99 ? for iPhone)
If you have the hips for Latin dance, like I do, you could be sweating it out in minutes thanks to the Pocket Salsa app. This app offers more than 150 step-by-step salsa dance lessons (video) to get you moving? and they are hot, hot, hot! The Pocket Salsa app is geared towards beginners, featuring interactive dance videos as well as close-ups on footwork that help walk you through salsa moves rather quickly. And the app is jam-packed with a hot set of salsa music rhythms to get your heart pumping, your pulse rising, and your hips swaying to the salsa dance beat.
2. Ballroom Dancing ($3.99 ? for iPhone)
I?m a huge ?Dancing With The Stars? fan, and I?ve been itching for a mobile destination for ballroom dance lessons. The Ballroom Dancing app teaches beginners how to feel comfortable on the ballroom dance floor. The app features lessons for the basic steps of the most popular dances?such as salsa, rumba, foxtrot, cha-cha, swing, and samba. With over 30 interactive lessons, you?ll learn all the beginner steps.
3. Tap Dancing Studio ($0.99 ? iPhone and iPad)
How would you like to turn your mobile phone into a fully functional tap dancing stage? Tap Dancing Studio is an app that does just that. The app is easy to use:
· Simply lay your iPhone or iPad flat on any surface
· Position your fingers on the screen
Use your hand as the tiny tap dancer
The Tap Dance Studio app features more than a dozen classic Jazz, Blues, and Swing era tap songs, as well as tap lessons that will have you two-step shuffling and paddle rocking across the mini dance floor. Plus, if you are using an iPad, you can pair up with a friend for a tap duet.
4. iStreetDance Absolute Beginners ($0.99 ? for iPhone)
My son loves this app! iStreetDance Absolute Beginners will teach you street dance at a beginner?s level. Groove as you learn thousands of street dance moves and master the basics.
5. Ballet Dancer ($0.99 ? for iPhone)
Ballet Dancer is a little girl?s dream! This app turns the user into a professional choreographer for her very own ballet. Use swipes and taps to create your ballerina?s hair, tutu, and slipper color, then move her into fouettés and bourrées. Plus, the Ballet Dancer app features music from famous ballets like the Nutcracker Suite.
